Before you start your excel spreadsheet with items you already purchased on Etsy, it’s important to set your wedding budget. This can be a daunting task initially because venues and vendor going-rates can very per location and especially by what is most important to you as a couple. When inquiring with vendors, ask them what their average bride spends with them. If you want to stick to your budget, it definitely helps to have guidelines, so you’re not dreaming up things that will put you over budget.
Before you set your budget you should ask yourself how much am I able and how much do I want to spend on my wedding? These are really two separate questions. The best place to start is with the money you actually have to spend, and knowing a few averages and benchmarks might help you spend it more wisely. I included a miscellaneous category because so many brides go over budget because they don’t factor in costs like a photo booth, rentals, decor, lighting, etc. If you are having trouble staying on budget read my Top 10 Wedding Budget Tips. I’d love to hear how you are doing with your wedding budget!
