WHERE TO START
Once your venue is selected, decide if you are having a formal, casual or black-tie affair. This will play into your color palette. With the season and theme in mind, pick your colors. Yes, colors, not color. If you only choose one color, your wedding will look a bit flat if every last detail is purple for example. Instead pick 2-3 key colors and then 2 accent colors. Accent colors can be silver or gold for items like your chairs, cake topper, linens or bridesmaids dresses. Another accent color that is mainly based off of the groomsmen tuxes; white, black, navy, grey, etc. So instead of having a pink wedding, you can have a pink, blue, silver and white wedding.
TIPS ON CHOOSING A COLOR PALETTE
Take the season, the venue and your theme into consideration, but only as inspiration to build on ideas. You should go with what you love! It is your wedding after-all. You don’t have to pick seasonal colors or colors that match the venue. If you want a pink wedding in the Fall – do it!
DETERMINE THE USE OF COLOR
Once you land on a palette, determine where the colors will be used.
