From the bride…

HOW WE MET

It all began for Gordon and I in 2005 at JL Mann High School in Greenville, SC. We knew very quickly that we found a bond and love worth fighting for. After high school, our paths took us to separate sides of the country, but no matter the distance, no matter the circumstance, we stuck by each other’s side. Our friendship grew to so much more leading us to an engagement in the very spot where it all began. After almost 9 years of dating, Gordon proposed in the original JL Mann parking lot, in my still painted parking spot, surrounded by beautiful luminaries, our favorite music and so many unforgettable memories. Of course I said YES. I am so thankful for all of the memories we have had leading up to this moment and wedding day will be one that we both cherish forever.

SOUTHERN WEDDING INSPIRATION

My fiancé and I both love amazing food and awesome music. We wanted to be sure that everyone was dancing and having the time of their lives. Our band was truly wonderful and helped to make it a night to never forget. The food was a good ole Southern meal and my favorite part of the day was being able to incorporate my siblings into so much. I have two younger siblings who both suffer from special needs. They were told at a very young age that they would not walk, talk or be of normal size or ability. My fiancé has always been a role model for them and they are a huge part of our every day lives. My sister was a bridesmaid and my brother walked proudly down the aisle as a groomsmen.

I began a non-profit organization in 2005 and together with the support of our community we have raised over $150,000 for children like my siblings and programs that support raising funds, awareness and hope for those in need. The non-profit is named L.A.D.Y Bugs Across America; Lindley’s Alliance for Disabled Youth. We incorporated small touches of ladybugs throughout the day including one in my bouquet. Our party favors were custom made candy bars including the story of my siblings and how Gordon has played such a huge part in making their dreams come true. I am also the owner of a dance studio in South Carolina and was so excited to have my students perform a crowd pleasing routine during the reception as well.

 FASHION

Fashion has always been something very important to both myself and my fiancé. I was thrilled to have long time friend and dress designer Gregory Ellenburg to make a custom gown of my dreams. He used nude illusion with symmetrically placed lace appliques and silk crepe “straps” to create the bodice. The lace and beaded accent down the back were hand beaded with Swarovski bicone beads and pearls. The fit and flare skirt was made of 4 ply silk crepe. We also had a tulle cape with beaded lace border to wear during the wedding ceremony. Greg’s gowns have graced the Miss America and Miss USA stages and so much more.

I knew I wanted to find my bridesmaids something elegant and gorgeous from their bridal collection. The blush pink bridesmaids dresses and the groomsmen navy suits with custom socks were a beautiful combination. My fiancé has always loved local company Brackish Bowties and loved being able to include them in his look on wedding day along with a stunning white dinner jacket to tie the entire look together.

ABOUT THE BIG DAY

Wedding day was much anticipated for my fiancé and I as we were together for 9 years before we got engaged in the same spot that we met. I had always dreamed of a fairytale day that really showcased our story, what brought us together and how our families were so instrumental in who we are today. We were both born and raised in the south and wanted to have those traditional romantic southern touches. I also lived in Los Angeles, CA for 7 years and knew I wanted to have a bit of a modern touch as well. We were married in the same church and had the reception in the same venue as my parents. It was so special to say our vows in the very same spot and to throw my bouquet from the same balcony that my mom did several years ago.

The decor for the wedding was a mix of champagnes, golds, neutrals and blush pinks. I knew I wanted an elegant feel with the focus on the beautiful flowers. Family is so important to us and we wanted to make the reception fun for both children and adults. We incorporated a DIY Kids table featuring candy, coloring, and more. We also loved the DIY Photo Booth with a grass wall and custom #GoingGulledge2018 sign to be used by all guests. Another special part of the decor was the memory table that was put together by my mom. This was our way to remember our loved ones who couldn’t be with us to celebrate as well as showcase the love stories of our parents, grandparents and all of those special to us. We wanted to do something special to incorporate both of our names and we had a custom logo designed. We used this on our cake, as a backdrop behind the band, on our cocktail napkins and as a part of the ice sculpture. It truly made everything come together.
