AVOID THIS WEDDING PLANNING MISTAKE
I am a HUGE fan of Pinterest, I actually can’t imagine getting married without it. But what I don’t like is Pinterest perfection. Rather than focusing on a single image on Pinterest, it’s better for a couple to make their wedding selections uniquely theirs. Why? Because you might just be setting the next big trend in weddings!
THE ULTIMATE RESOURCE
A wedding planner. A wedding planner has the background, the contacts, and the resources to help their clients get everything they need, and more importantly, at the best price!
HOW TO MAKE YOUR VISION COME TO LIFE
Create Pinterest boards for each of your vendors and have them follow you for updates. Create one called ‘Wedding Cakes’ for your cake vendor to follow and other ones called ‘Wedding Inspo’ or ‘Something New’ for your vendors to know your vision or a new trend you want to try. Also, make sure you ask the right questions in your vendor meetings to ensure you hire the right people to capture your vision. Bring copies of my Questions to Ask series to your vendor interviews or pull up the lists up on your ipad.
WHERE YOU SHOULD SPLURGE
Is food important to you? Splurge. Is the dress important to you? Splurge. You can always adjust your wedding budget and cut back on line items that are less important to you. Visit my Wedding Budget Breakdown to help with percentages. Couples tend to cut back on lighting, but I don’t think that’s always the best option. Lighting brings your vision life and looks incredible in photos! If a bride is looking to cut back, she can always scale back on rentals or re-purpose florals to save money. HOW TO STAY SANE
Let’s be honest, this might be my most important wedding tip. Have a day-of wedding timeline and print copies for all of your vendors with their contact information. Additionally, don’t dwell on decisions! If you have seen every single wedding invitation suite on Minted, Wedding Paper Divas and Zazzle… that’s too many! Focus on why you are getting married and the rest will fall into place.
