I get it. You are ready to jet set off on the most romantic trip of your life, but before you start collecting passport stamps, there are several things you need to consider. The last thing you want to be worrying about on your wedding day is if your passport is valid for six month after entering your honeymoon destination country or if you need to get a vaccination to travel. So take notes for this romantic post-wedding trip with a list I’ve assembled on what to consider before jetting off on your honeymoon. Now you can be rest assured you have it all covered!
This is a tough one, but consider what the honeymoon is all about. Spending your first days together as husband and wife. As newlyweds it’s important to give each other attention with no distractions. Rather than instagraming or snapchating every time you get a different view of the beach, try using an actually camera and upload all the amazing pictures you took to social media when you return. Plus you’ll probably save money on your international phone plan.
CONSIDER NOT LEAVING THE DAY AFTER THE WEDDING
After your incredible sparkler send off the night before, you may think you want to leave the morning you wake up. But there is a lot to do the morning of the day after your wedding. Who is going to be responsible for loading gifts in the car or collecting decor items you gave the hotel or left over wedding guest favors. Not to mention if you stayed up most of the night chances are you’ll want to sleep the whole day or reminisce about the day. Also, some brides like planning a brunch the day after with their nearest and dearest. Consider leaving two days or more after the wedding.
CONSIDER THE TYPE OF HONEYMOON
You may want to lounge on the beach all day relaxing and taking in the sun in your cutest new beach attire and sunhat. Girls just wanna have sun, right? But does he? He might want to explore, scuba drive, hike, site see, zip line, have other thrill seeking activities together, or both. This is your first time as husband and wife to make decisions together, so communicate and consider both of your vacation wants and desires.
CONSIDER WHAT YOU NEED TO TRAVEL
Yes some countries require Visas and some require vaccinations. Ensure you research this before entering another country. You’ll also want to double check that your passport isn’t expiring within six months of entering the country, or you may get denied entry!
